Does honesty really pay off?

All people claim that they want a honest or transparent relationship, few can truly accept the truth.

That is the lesson I soon learned in a diverse cooperation working place. By diversity, I don’t mean various race, gender or religion beliefs. That really doesn’t count in working, how do you religious belief or gender affect your work in engineering?  Very minimal.

By diversity, I mean different intellectual level or ability to understand complex ideas. However, United States, or in general, the whole culture has cultivated so many self- assurent people who always believe he/she can understand everything merely listen to few words.

Thus, forcing them to first admit their lacking of knowledge, and then opening up to new ones is an incredible hard task.  More easily, you find yourself in an unnecessary fight or conflict, leading no where, expect hurting yourself.

My manager even threatened me, if I keep “conflict”, he will report my incapability in doing the job.

So what is the left choice for me? Either lie or keep silent.

After all, people can never be changed, at least easily with few words.

Hope this is a great lesson to me, reminding me that I need to reflect on my behaviors so that I won’t be one of those, who always blame others and never do the necessary self improvement.
